Friday Night Lights is getting excellent reviews.

20 million or more at Intertops is getting nailed. It opened at +210 and is now at +190.

I bet you it'll be +175 before closing time.

Now down to +160.

I personally think Friday Night Lights will do good, but not THAT good.

I think Raise Your Voice looks soooo gay. I might make a play, it's still open.

+160 ain't worth it, IMO. I'd agree, don't think it will do that good. Those would be Remember the Titans numbers.... and this doesn't have Denzel. But it does seem to cater more to the teenagers so maybe it will do over 20. I think it will do around 18.

What are your plays you wussy.

okay, okay,

17 - 20

7.5 - 9.5 (was going to go under 7.5... but changed my mind at the last moment, Duff has the built in fan base)

Over 16 -170... small play, I hate chalk.

First bad sign: lobby was virtually empty when i came in (25 screen theatre). no line, so i used a live clerk rather than one of those machines. this is virtually unprecedented for me in this theatre at approximately this time of day on a friday.

Second bad sign: checked in on the 2pm TAXI. 8 people in a 500 seat theatre.

Trailers: FLPHX (looks bad to me - in fact, i'd like to take a moment to predict this will bomb); AFSUN (looks exactly like every other PBROS movie); UDRTW; POLAR. no discernable response to any of the above.

FRINL: 175 seat theatre, 30% full. not bad, but not excellent either.

i am a huge sports fan and had read the positive reviews for this one so i came in with very high expectations. suffice it to say i was very disappointed. the movie was beautifully shot, and very well acted but it relied upon all of the typical sports movie characters and cliches that we have all seen too many times.

a few things of note: there are alot of lockerroom speech scenes (alot); the football action, which looks really good (but no better than any other recent football movie, IMO), gets a bit silly because the director has no sense of football strategy whatsoever and this seriously detracts from the drama (ie, who runs the ball with 12 seconds left? - that sort of thing).

better to go rent Hoosiers or watch some real football.

happy trading.

from that report alone looks like the under 12 might win for Taxi. I stayed away form it since it has Q. Latifah in it. she's hot and will draw a lot of white boys.

it's too early to tell, but so far Raise your Voice is getting less yahoo reviews than First Daughter. And First Daughter only made 4 million. But, it's still gettting a decent number of reviews ,it just seems that young girls post a lot of reviews so Raise Your Voice probably should be getting more.

Friday Night Lights is the strongest of the openers though the first two shows haven't been anything to really get excited about. However, there does seem to be a lot of interest in the first evening show as we have already sold about 20% of the tickets (which is a big deal for us).

Raise Your Voice and Taxi are both looking like real stinkers so far. I was even surprised neither saw much of a spike around the time school got out. At least with Raise Your Voice I think it has a decent chance of doing ok business tomorrow. I think Taxi is just DOA.

As for hold overs, I think both Shark Tale and Ladder 49 should have smaller than normal drop-offs and Shark Tale will likely take the weekend again.

Congrats,

Raise Your Voice is a lock, and OVER 16 is a lock for FNL.

thanks, although I'm dissapointed I didn't take the under for Taxi as well. That was somewhat of an easy play. F*ckit. Looks like you went 2-1, gj :suomi:
